The control system for the cable laying carousel on the cable laying barge in Thailand was designed and implemented for our client in Singapore. The system includes a control console with operator controls located in the main control room, as well as a control panel for the controls of the 2 MT linear cable engine. Additionally, we integrated the 6 MT tensioner and 3000 MT carousel control panel with our main control system, which were supplied by a third party.
We were responsible for configuring the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for the carousel and integrating it into our system. The system offers different operation modes, including manual mode for individual operation of equipment, and auto mode where equipment is synchronized and operates automatically. Under auto mode, all equipment can operate in either constant tension mode or constant speed mode.
This advanced control system ensures efficient and precise cable laying operations, providing our client with a reliable and effective solution for their project.
