This Thruster Control System turnkey retrofit project for an ABS class, CW80T designed, DP-2 Anchor Handling Tug involved the retrofit of the existing 2 X Bow & 1 X Stern electric driven CPP tunnel Brunvoll thruster control system to the TRICON™ MK3 thruster Control System.
The scope of the project included the replacement of control systems, installation of new control levers, feedback potentiometers, and integration with the vessel’s VMS, PMS & dynamic positioning systems.Comprehensive testing and verification of the newly installed system were conducted before commissioning. Pitch control was calibrated for zero and 100% load. All alarms tested.
The upgraded control systems significantly improved the operational reliability of the Bow and Stern Thrusters & hardware availability for the next 10 years. The new control systems were designed with provisions for future upgrades, allowing for potential expansion and monitoring of additional parameters as needed.
The retrofit of the Brunvoll propulsion controls with Tricon MK 3 systems was successfully completed in record time, ensuring the vessel is operationally robust and reliable. The project included full system integration, testing, and sea trials, providing the client with a cutting-edge propulsion control solution tailored to their operational needs.
