Project Overview:
The team at Tritek Power & Automation successfully completed the switchgear retrofit onboard a dredger, for the main and auxiliary switchboards to improve power distribution reliability and safety. The project involved replacing aging ACBs and MCCBs with modern protection systems to ensure compliance with marine electrical standards and prevent costly downtime during continuous dredging operations. Executed with precise planning and offshore expertise, the switchboard upgrade was completed with zero operational interruption, keeping the vessel fully operational and contract-ready.
Key Challenges:
- Obsolete ACB and MCCB units on main and auxiliary switchboards
- Critical requirement for zero downtime during dredging operations
- Integration with existing marine power distribution infrastructure
- Limited onboard working space
- Compliance with marine electrical safety and class standards

Technical Highlights:
- Replacement and retrofit of nine (9) Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs) and two (2) Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs)
- Busbar system modification and reinforcement to enhance load handling capacity and distribution reliability
- Upgraded control wiring architecture to improve system integrity and operational stability
- Revision of electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation
- Comprehensive testing and commissioning performed in compliance with applicable marine standards
- Provision of dedicated spare ACBs and MCCBs onboard to ensure power system redundancy and operational continuity
